Week 47 - Life in Hannover Week 7: Picture Overload

Hey guys, last week's motivation flood was short lived, but we took tons of pictures this week. Have a look, and enjoy!

Quick Explanation:
We spent the whole transfer day in Bahnhof helping people switch trains. Hilarity ensued.

Week 46 - Life in Hannover Week 6: Catch-up and Transfers

Hey Friends,

I once again don't have tons of time to write, but I am running on a nice little wave of motivation, so let's see what I can get done.

Starting with two weeks ago, the week was kind of crazy, but also a little dissapointing. The main point was that it was my first zone conference as a zone leader. We were supposed to give a Thema as zone leaders, but that didn't end up happening. I was relieved and dissapointed. I had spent the better part of a week stressing out about it, but I was feeling pretty good by the time I was supposed to give it. Naja, not the end of the world.

I also ended up giving a talk on church on very short notice and it absoutely sucked... My German was out the window... But, I still felt like it was a good message despite the presentation.

This last week was kind of interesting because Elder Hughes had the Flu (which I might now be getting), so we spent a good chunk of time at home while he recovered.

Anyway, a little more specifically:

We kicked off the week with a great district P-Day on Monday! We went to the City hall here, which is massive. You'll get some nice pictures of that. We also played ultimate frisbee, and ate cake for my birthday =p

On Tuesday I had a super fun tausch with Elder Ashby! Because of some dumb transportation, we spent more time getting around than working, but it was still good because we got to talk and to relax a little bit.

On Wednesday Elder Hughes and I went to another district to help them with a finding day for a program that was just opened and is kind of struggling. We had a good time and managed to find them someone in our little bit of time there.

On Thursday we had our last district meeting as a district. We are going to miss each other a ton! This is easily the tightest district I have been in, and we got kind of ripped apart for transfers (I'll talk about those at the end.)

On Friday we had a street display in Hildesheim that was absolutely rained out, but we were still super successful! I got to use my little bit of russian to place a book of mormon with two women who only spoke russian! that was super cool.

On Saturday we were supposed to have a street display here in Hannover, but Elder Hughes and I got super short notice that we needed to go to a funeral for someone in the ward. We ended up being pall bearers, and missing our own street display. The district did it without us! The did pretty well, though.

And today was my birthday! I had a great day, and I want to tell everyone thanks for the well wishes!

Anyway... Here are the transfers!

I'll be staying in Hannover, but I'll be getting a new companion, Elder Heywood. I've only heard good things, so I'm excited! I am really sad to see Elder Hughes go, though... I love you man!

One of the sisters in the district, Sister Anderson, is getting transferred, and Her companion will be staying and training.

Both of the Elders in Hildesheim are going, and we will be getting sisters in Hildesheim instead.

A solid half of our district was wiped... =( I'll miss them all!

Anyway, I wish you all a wonderful week!

Week 44 - Life in Hannover Week 4: A busy week in prep for a busier week

This week was really good, but also really busy. I'm pretty wiped, so I'm grateful for P-Day so I can relax a little bit :)

This week I had exchanges with the Halberstadt district leader, Elder Sinclair, and we had a pretty effective day despite our little amount of time. There has been some flooding in the areas surrounding Hannover due to the large amount of rain that we've been getting, and so it took the better part of three hours to get to Halberstadt. In our three hours or so that we had, though, we managed to place two Books of Mormon and have an unexpected appointment. It was also super cool to see Elder Sinclair again so soon, that was pretty unexpected last transfer!

After the exchange we went to their district meeting, so I spent almost a third of the week outside of Hannover.

The other highlight of the week was a Thema that I got to give in our district's district meeting. I gave a Thema on how everything that we do adds up, and they do make a difference.

I want to give you all testimony that It is worth it to fight your demons! God is watching, and he sees all of your efforts! When you do your best to be obedient, and you allow god to help you, everything will work out alright. I also give testimony that you are more successful than you think. There are so many good things that have happened because of you, whether or not you could see them happening.
The world is a better place because it has YOU, and I'm grateful for my connections to each of you.

I love you guys a ton, have an awesome week!

Liebe Grüße,
Elder Austin Spaulding

Elder Hughes and I went to the top of the Rathous (Loosly translated to city hall) today. The view was amazing, and I wanted to share some pictures.
